Carroll F. Sweet, Sr. had a dream of building a "G.I. Town." He brought together Philip M. Klutznick and Nathan Manilow to make that dream a reality. In 1946, his son joined the staff of ACB as an assistant to Mr. Klutznick. During the ten years from 1946-1956, he helped choose the name "Park Forest," named many of the streets in town, was the first mail delivery person, and delivered water bottles and garbage cans in his "Black Maria." He made many more contributions to the community, including establishing the Rotary Club. His account outlines the contributions of several of the key players on American Community Builders' staff, as well.

Carroll F. Sweet, Jr. passed away in March 1996. In 1994, he was inducted into the Park Forest Hall of Fame. Read this colorful, personal memoir of the first ten years of Park Forest's development.
